cookout lakeside....(7/15)

Today was an amazing, the "bestest" day ever!!!! All the puppy raisers were invited to go to a camp that is owned by Gerry and Kathy. Now, if you don't know, Gerry is the CEO of NEADs. Actually their camp isn't too far from our camp, but it was such a great day to be with the other puppies and the raisers.
It was another hot summer day, so much so, that even Camille decided to take a swim... and Camille really isn't a "swimmer" dog. (Mom felt a little sad knowing that Hunter, Trevor and Tazzy were all home and we were swimming)
Moxie and I had the best time together... Monty was a really good swimmer too...

To a golden... water and a ball!!!! Life does NOT get better than this!!!!

I swam to my heart's content.... I could have swum all day... oh ya!! I did!!!!

This is my new friend, Dan... he is Gerry and Kathy's son. He had so much fun with all of us puppies... we really loved swimming with him!!!

Look at this handsome dog.. this is Chase... Gerry and Kathy's golden.. he's an old boy, but you wouldn't know it. He kept right up with "us puppies".. and even showed how he can swim out to the dock and climb right up on it. Then he would dive off and do it all again...

Well, I decided that if Chase could swim out to that dock.. I could too. Dan went along with me, just in case... but I didn't need his help.. I got right out there.... it was fun!!!!

I'm a very good swimmer... and I would hope that where ever I "end up".. I will have the chance to swim.... I could maybe teach my new people how to swim!!!!

Camille didn't swim as much as we retrievers did. Maybe spaniels swim less than retrievers.. but that's OK, she seemed just as happy watching us from the beach.

After so much swimming the humans said it was time for a break (and for them a cookout!!!). We dogs had to get out of the water and take a rest while they ate. Moxie kept looking out to the lake, she couldn't wait to get back out there. Monty felt exactly the same way.... we just have to swim....

Course Mom is always looking for a picture.. so before we could go out again, we all had to line up and have our photo done!!! (from left to right) Monty, Clover, Camille, me (Bogey) Chase, Jasper, and Moxie.....

And the humans too... Gerry, Kathy (our wonderful hosts) Kathleen, Mom and Rick... I wish that all days could be spent by the lake!!!!

Looking for more adventures, Bogey

going to camp...

A few days after "the 4th".. Mom said we were going to camp. That sounded like fun, and the other dogs in the house were certainly excited when they heard the word "camp". But first, it was off to get some supper.  I (as usual) was put under the table....

We met up with the family, and everyone was having such a good time. (I just waited... I wanted to get to camp!!!)

Finally..... we got back into the truck and on our way. Well, sort of, we had to go back to the farm to take care of horses -- and while I was waiting in the truck... look in the mirror and you can see... Mona jumped up on the roof. What is she doing??? she can't come to camp with us!!!!

Camp was (is) so much fun. I was happy to see Naomi again... (she really loves me)... and it's just a place of family, "freedom" .. food and swimming....
This is Banjo... he belongs to Kas and Nate. He has this sad face, because his Mommy said no more swimming for a while. She thought he was too tired and needed a little rest time. Banjo told me, he didn't need to rest, but he had no choice when his Mommy told him "no". Ah... the life of a dog.

The weather was beautiful, we spent a lot of time in and near the water... did I tell you, I love the water.... swimming has to be one of my favorite things to do.

Trevor loves to swim too... we all took turns in the water.. that way Mom said she could keep her eye on all of us.

Hunter enjoyed his nap on the couch. Yup, camp is certainly the place for dogs... I think every dog should have a camp of their own!!!

always an adventure, Bogey!!!!

the 4th of July.......

Another field trip.... Mom calls this day "the 4th of July" and she packed us up and took us over to Deb and Dave's house. She said we were going there for a cookout and to have fun with lots of friends (both human and k9). When we arrived, we found Dave cooking...
He then brought out these two strange looking things, and said "here Bogey, would you like these for lunch". I sniffed them all over and thought "really?"
But then "it" began to flap around and it tried to bite me. Ya, "no thanks, Dave" not my cup of tea.

Mom calls them "lobsters" and they were tossed into a pot and cooked. She was pretty excited about this "lunch"....
And here's what they looked like.. already to go. Course, I just had to lay quietly under the table while all the people ate. But, afterwards... I got to play with the other dogs that were there.....so, it was a good day.

onto the next adventure, Bogey.

checking in at NEADS... (6/29)

Today, we met up with Moxie and Monty..Mom said that we are heading to the city. I know what that is all about... I've been there before, so I was telling Moxie all about it.
It was a hot summer day.. and the city seemed to be so much hotter than it is on the farm. Mom said she is getting used to the city... see I'm her fourth puppy in training, and so she has been coming to the city "quite a bit" with her puppies. She says that because of us, she thinks the city is "an ok place... to visit!!!"
Even though I had told Moxie all about the city, seems as though Rick had to give her a pep talk... I think she likes being a country dog more than being a city dog!!!!
We certainly weren't the only dogs working that day. Mom caught sight of this team ... she thought it was pretty neat.
I paid careful attention to all the things Mom had to tell me. I really do enjoying working and being out  and about.
Puppies on the streets!!! this is me... Moxie and Monty... (and that's Jackie - way in the back)

We worked on the streets for a while, and then went over to the hospital. Riding in the elevators is always an experience... Moxie and I are thinking, "that's a long way down there"...

I for one, was glad when the humans decided to take a little break and have lunch. It gave me a chance to take a little nap and get some energy back.

After our break, it was over to the train station. Dave loves to have us working on the stairs... we practice going up slowly, and stopping to wait, and just all sorts of different things. Monty is doing a good job on his stair work.

Then, when the train arrived... we went on that. I didn't mind at all.. it was cool on the train. Dave worked with me for a time, and when he asked me to "down" between the seats, I was more than happy to do so.

but, again, by the end of the day.. we were running out of steam. I kept telling Dave that I was ready to go home... he asked me to just be patient.  Uggghhhh

(I wasn't the only one that wanted to head home.... could Moxie be any clearer???)

Seems like all more stories are ending the same way.... tired puppies. But, it's how it should be....

off for more adventures....... Bogey

a birthday party....(6/24)

Well, Mom didn't worry too much about "settling in time", because she has had me out and about right from the start. But, we did do one very special "field trip" (as she calls them)  to a birthday party for Naomi. Naomi LOVES dogs, so her "theme" was all about dogs, and of course she wanted me to come...
The kids took to us right away.... Camille was super happy, because she loves kids.. and actually, so do I. The kids were excited to hear all about me, and one little girl there knows Monty (the puppy that is with Kathleen) and she was so proud to be able to tell Mom what she knew about service puppies.
Camille smiled all day long.....
The kids played this one game that I must say, I wondered about. They got a big stick and hit at this poor "dog". Mom just had to be sure that all the kids knew, you never would hit a real dog... and they knew that... but this one was filled with candy, so I guess it was OK to hit it....
And when the party was underway, this other "dog" showed up. It was the strangest thing I think I have ever seen... more human than dog!!! But, I went right over to say my hellos....
As "weird" as it was, I wasn't letting it trouble me. Mom seemed pretty please with my response .... and actually, I was braver than some of the children!!!!
I wasn't the only service puppy there... my friend Moxie was invited too. Moxie is very nice and made sure to wish the birthday girl a happy day.

Both Moxie and I got lots of hugs from Naomi and all the kids. We thought that was pretty good....

By the end of the day.. two puppies in training were tired!!! But it was a very fun day... and I am certainly up for adventures...

Bogey.....
